I am happy to say that Vescell Adult Stem Cell treatment for heart disease has been prominently featured in a new article in Forbes Magazine. The entire article featured different stem cell companies around the world and how patients from the United States traveled to these stem cell treatment centers through "Medical Tourism" to find help for their particular disease.
Here is the section from the Forbes article pertaining to Vescell featuring Andy Jordan who was suffering from congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, and angina when he came to Bangkok for Vescell stem cell treatment:
When Nashville resident Anderson Jordan, at age 72, said he wanted to fly to Bangkok to treat his congestive heart failure in July 2008, his internist of 22 years balked. But Jordan was fading fast: His ventricles were only managing to pump at 19% capacity--a healthy person's "ejection fraction" is between 50% and 65%--and he could not get another bypass.
Surfing the Internet, Jordan happened upon TheraVitae, a Bangkok-headquartered biotechnology company that markets "VesCell stem cell treatments" via licensing agreements with four clinics in Thailand, one in Singapore and one in the Dominican Republic. These procedures involved using a patient's own stem cells to build new blood vessels and heart muscle. The fact that the therapy would use his own blood excited Jordan. He contacted prior patients whose stories were chronicled on the company's Web site. One patient from Oregon told Jordan of the miraculous effects of the treatments on his angina.
Thai doctors injected 25 million of his own stem cells into Jordan's heart. Twenty thousand miles, 22 days, a cardiac arrest and $43,000 later, he came home to his wife with an ejection fraction between 30% and 35%. Even Jordan's doctor had to admit he was happy with the results.
"There simply are no domestic studies with control groups," says Dr. William E. Baucom, Jordan's internist. "There is no way to know the exact reason, but [Jordan] has improved and he does look good today."
The same Forbes article also featured a special Cardiovascular Disease section:
Cardiovascular Disease Where to find treatment: China, Germany, Mexico.
Behind the treatment: Bangkok-headquartered TheraVitae offers "VesCell stem-cell treatments" through licensing agreements with four clinics in Bangkok, Thailand, Singapore and the Dominican Republic. (The research and development activities take place in Israel.) In these procedures, stem cells are extracted from a patient's own blood, cultured in a lab and implanted directly into the blocked coronary artery or, when no artery is available, into the scarred area in the heart. The goal: to rebuild heart muscle and improve blood flow.
If you would like to talk to Andy yourself -he hasjoined the ranks of grateful patients reaching out to others suffering from heart failure in the hope that they will find relief from VesCell, too. You may email me at ajordan142@gmail.com or call me at 615-449-2898.

Robert Pleva, a 60 year old electrician from Florida is back to work full time after being treated with VesCell adult stem cells for his congestive heart failure. Pleva had been facing a heart transplant due to heart damage suffered in a 1999 heart attack.
Luckily, Pleva found Dr. Zannos Grekos of Regenocyte, a stem cell treatment company using VesCell stem cell technology from Theravitae to treat heart and peripheral artery disease patients with their own stem cells. In my last post, I posted a published stem cell study on Dr. Grekos' successfully treating heart disease patients in the Anti-Aging Medical News publication.
I am also happy to announce that Robert is back to work full time and in his words
“I feel so good and have so much energy,” he explains. “The best part about it is being able to do things I haven’t done in a long time.”
Pleva had a 28% ejection fraction before VesCell adult stem cells were implanted in June 2008. In January 2009, Pleva's ejection fraction had risen to 44% and as his wife says
“His blood pressure has come way down, so he’s been taken off many of his prescriptions,” she explains. “We’re just taking it one step at a time…and I’m getting my husband back.”
Let's hope Mr. Pleva stays healthy. As Valentine's Day is upon us for Mr. and Mrs. Pleva, I think it is appropriate that Pleva's heart seems to be healthy physically as well as mentally.
Today, I have a published medical article from the Winter 2008 edition of Anti-Aging Medical News. Dr. Zannos Grekos M.D. of Regenocyte has published his results from treating Ischemic Cardiomyopathy patients using VesCell Adult Stem Cells.
In this article (see below), Dr. Grekos took 16 heart disease patients with an Ejection fraction of less than 45% and New York Heart Failure class of II or greater and treated them with Theravitae's VesCell technology.
And the results?
At the beginning, these 16 heart disease patients had an average resting Ejection fraction of 28%. After 6 months, the average resting ejection fraction was 49%- an increase of 21 points!
What about stress ejection fraction (measured on a stress test)? The results were even better. Starting from an average of 36% before stem cell treatment, the patients had a stress ejection fraction of 64.5% - 6 months after the Adult Stem Cells were implanted. This was an increase of 28.5 points!
All of you heart patients out there know that these are pretty good results. You can see these results along with the entire published article below:
One of the most frequent questions we get asked here about our overseas treatment is "Does VesCell Adult Stem Cell therapy work for patients with Heart Disease?"
We have hundreds of patients who have gone through the "Vescell" experience and have a better quality of life to show for it. I sincerely believe they would answer "yes" to that question.
Congestive Heart Failure and Coronary Artery Disease patients like James Eilert, Andy Jordan, Joe Woolfolk and over 200 others have been helped with our stem cell treatment for the heart muscle and coronary arteries which consists of a patient being treated with adult stem cells taken from his/her own body in a simple, non-invasive procedure.
We have just completed a review of our treated heart patients to date and have compiled some results for you to judge for yourself. Significant results include:
Heart disease patients suffering from angina dropped from an average of 2.58 on the Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS) scale to a 1.64- almost one full class. According to the CCS scale, a lower score is better- a score of one is normal with no symptoms. Therefore, a drop from 2.58 to 1.64 is excellent!
Patients' stress ejection fraction went up 11 points!! From an average of 35% before stem cell treatment all the way up to an average ejection fraction of 46% after stem cell therapy. I think most cardiologists would agree that an improvement in ejection fraction from 35% to 46% is tremendous.
Please see the presentation below for more of our results. The presentation includes details on patient nationalities, patient symptoms, amount of stem cells implanted, and more information that you may find pertinent.
If you don't have much patience, I suggest you scroll down and start on Slide 11 or 12 as that is where we post the results of the stem cell therapy (rather than patient characteristics). The presentation also features a case study of a heart patient at the very end.
Dr. Zannos Grekos, a cardiologist who uses VesCell Adult Stem Cells to treat his heart disease patients, was a featured speaker at the 16th Annual World Congress on Anti-Aging Medicine & Regenerative Biomedical Technologies in Las Vegas that ran from December 11th-14th. He presented clinical data showing that Vescell Stem Cell therapy definitely helps patients with congestive heart failure.
Dr. Grekos also announced that his work "has spurred a project entailing growing organs for transplant from patients' own stem cells using technology developed by National Aeronautic Space Association (NASA)." That is something to look forward to in the hopefully near future.
However, let's concentrate now on Dr. Grekos' results: He reported that the average patient had his ejection fraction increase 21 percentage points and had reversed heart muscle damage
Dr. Grekos also stated that his patients on average had gone from Stage IV Heart Failure (End Stage Heart Failure) and then improved to Stage II Heart Failure in approximately 6 months! And for you cardiologists out there- the clinical data from PET scans confirmed that VesCell Adult Stem Cells do indeed "engraft themselves into areas damaged by myocardial infarction (heart attacks) and turn into viable new heart muscle."
Hector Rosario, MD, chief of Interventional Cardiology for the Dominican Republic division of Regenocyte, is thrilled with the clinical outcomes to date. "It is personally very gratifying to alter the prognosis in patients who have exhausted all other options,"
Well said Dr. Rosario. VesCell stem cell therapy can give patient's a new lease on life with minimal risk since the patient's use their own Adult Stem Cells to help heal their heart disease or peripheral artery disease
Last week, I brought you the story that eating pistachio nuts lowers the risks of heart disease. Raise your hand if you went out and bought a 5lb bag of pistachios after reading my post. Excellent!
This week, I bring you the news that eating dark chocolate can lower the risks of coronary heart disease as well. Before you get too excited and go to Costco or WalMart and stock up on the dark chocolate- please note that it is a very small amount of dark chocolate that helps.
The ideal amount is 6.7 grams per day (0.23 ounces). A typical Hershey chocolate bar weighs about 43 grams. That means eating one dark chocolate bar over the course of 6 1/2 days to get 6.7 grams per day.
Ok, so buy a dark chocolate bar and divide it into sevenths- probably one "square" that you can break off.
This heart disease study was done in Italy. Italy seems to come out with plenty of studies on heart disease. They also came out with a study showing the benefits of fish oil for heart failure.
They studied 4,849 people in good health and discovered that the ones who ate dark chocolate had significantly lower amounts of C-reactive protein in their blood. Many studies like this one show that low levels of C-reactive protein means lower levels of inflammation which means lower risks of heart disease.
The study also notes that milk chocolate does NOT offer the same benefits, so make sure it is dark chocolate(probably because of the antioxidants from the cocoa) that you are eating.
Now that we know that pistachios and dark chocolate can lower the risks of heart disease, I think we should combine them together and market them as some type of healthy snack- oops, looks like somebody beat me to the punch.
A new study that just came out says eating pistachios can lower "bad" cholesterol levels thus reducing risks of heart disease.
This study recently published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, showed that bad cholesterol dropped 12% when the participants in the study were given two servings of pistachios per day.
28 adults with "borderline high" cholesterol levels participated in the study run by scientists at Pennsylvania State University and Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation
The researchers first gave the participants a diet rich in cheese, oil and butter. Then they switched to low-fat diets before incorporating pistachios.
Bad cholesterol levels dropped by 12 per cent when two daily servings of pistachios were eaten. Good cholesterol levels did not change.
According to the researchers, it is the antixodant lutein, which is present in pistachio nuts that gives pistachios their power to slash the growth of bad cholesterol in the arteries.
The article reporting the study quotes nutritionist Angela Dowden (not related to the study) as saying “Pistachios are very healthy in moderation. A handful a day is very easily incorporated into the diet and they are less calorific than peanuts as you have to take the shell off."
Sorry Angela, I'm not sure I follow you. You mean peanuts and pistachios have the same amount of calories, but the herculean amount of energy expended on taking the shell off a pistachio nut means we are consuming less calories if we pick a pistachio nut??
Thanks Angela! I'm going to skip my 1 hour work out at the gym today and instead will take shells off of hundreds of pistachio nuts to lose a couple of lbs.
Angela is correct. However, probably not for the reason she states. I checked the calorie king website and compared pistachios and peanuts. As you can see, there are approximately 4 calories per each pistachio nut you consume vs. 6 calories per peanut.
But back to the topic at hand. It looks like we have another weapon in our arsenal to fight coronary artery disease. I know I'm stopping off at the supermarket here after work to get me some pistachios!
Please allow me to introduce Andy Jordan, age 72, from Tennessee. Andy worked in Utility Management and Municipal Public Works for many years. He retired at age 62. He lives with his wife, Judy and they love to travel, Judy makes quilts and Andy plays golf.
Unfortunately, heart disease is in his genes. Heart Failure took his father at age 51, but Andy was determined not to let it take him as well.
However, when Andy reached the age of 51, he already had been through a quadruple bypass (CABG) surgery due to his coronary artery disease. The bypass turned out well for Andy and helped him for the next 20 years. He was able to do everything he wanted to with his family, business, church, golf and travel.
Unfortunately, in the last few years, Andy's heart condition had taken a turn for the worse. His ejection fraction started to drop. His angina was keeping him down and he was dependent on his nitro pills and medication to get him through the tough times.
He tried EECP for his angina- didn't work. He tried other alternatives for his heart such as health supplements- didn't help very much.
Then, in May 2008, Andy received some bad news- his ejection fraction had fallen to 19% (Normal is around 65%). Andy had two options- either a heart transplant or Vescell adult stem cell therapy.
Andy chose Vescell stem cell treatment and he is happy he did. Andy traveled to Bangkok, Thailand and on July 9, 2008 was treated with his own adult stem cells (taken from his own blood) in a very simple procedure.
32 days after his Vescell stem cell therapy, back in Tennessee, Andy had his heart tested again- this time his ejection fraction was at 37%- almost a 100% improvement! Andy says he now "has good strength, is walking good, and able to handle stress well. Most of my peers see the before and after treatment better than I do!"
I had the pleasure of meeting Andy while he was in Bangkok and I can attest he is a gentleman and am thrilled the stem cell treatment has helped him. Andy has taken it upon himself to tell you readers more about Vescell adult stem cell treatment for heart disease and how it has helped him. He would like you to either call him at 615-449-2898 or email him at ajordan142@gmail.com - don't be shy, Andy is a great guy.
This week Stem Cell Guy would like to introduce William Bernhardt of DeSoto, Missouri. Stem Cell Guy wonders if the city was named after the classic car or the classic conquistador. But either way, DeSoto should be an interesting place if Mr. Bernhardt lives there. William came to Bangkok in July, 2006 to get his stem cell treatment for his coronary artery disease.
William had been very restricted in his ability to get around and get to work on his big farm. These days, after his stem cell therapy, it is a different story.
Now, William (Bill) is on the dating scene again (he is 78 years old!!), taking dance lessons, and organizing big parties.
But you don't have to take Stem Cell Guy's word for it. You can talk to Bill yourself. Bill loves to talk and would appreciate a call if you are interested in his experiences. (+1*) 636-586-6796
It's Friday. You know what that means. You walk into your office and say "Hey John, how are you?" and John goes "It's Friday."
Yes, I know what day it is John, I'm not a moron (although some of you readers may disagree), but I asked you "How are you?" You are supposed to say "I'm good" or "I'm tired, had a rough day yesterday," or something similar. For some reason, this annoys me. I'm sure all of you have someone in your office like "John"
Stem Cell Guy lives in Thailand and the staff in the office is mostly Thai so I don't have to deal with that too often. Before, we did have a guy who always said that, but he is gone now and Stem Cell Guy's blood pressure is very thankful for it.
Anyway, let's get to Richard Rzaca. Stem Cell Guy will give you a 10 point bonus if you can pronounce his last name correctly. And although his last name is difficult, his personality is not. Richard is a great guy and Stem Cell Guy is happy to say he is doing very well after coming to Bangkok to treat his coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure using his own adult stem cells. Richard came to Bangkok in May, 2007 and just 5 months later, his ejection fraction has more than doubled from 25% to 52%. This is wonderful. Richard says he is willing to talk to anyone about Theravitae's adult stem cell therapy...so if you wish to speak to Richard, please drop me an email at stemcellguy@theravitae.com and I will be happy to provide his phone number for you.
No more talk..here is the teaser-
Richard Rzaca reports that his heart function has more than doubled from 25% to 52% just 5 months after receiving Vescell adult stem cell therapy in Bangkok, Thailand.
Before he contacted Theravitae, the makers of Vescell last year, Richard Rzaca was a dying man. Richard had suffered a near fatal heart attack in 2003 and his condition had been going downhill since then. Richard described himself as “a dying horse.” “My color was gray, I couldn’t walk anywhere, and I was completely worn out,” he said. Richard’s ejection fraction (a measure of the heart’s pumping ability) was at 25%. OH STEM CELL GUY, THAT WAS WONDERFUL, LET ME READ THE WHOLE THING
For more information about our stem cell therapy, please go to www.vescell.com and www.theravitae.com
I hope all of you had a good weekend. Stem Cell Guy spent his weekend doing bad things that will ensure he is a candidate for stem cell treatment for coronary heart disease 20 years down the road, but that is neither here nor there. It is mailbag time-
Stem Cell Guy opened his mailbag of stem cell therapy surprises and found this beauty from one of our former stem cell therapy for heart disease patients- Hal Terrell. Hal was treated with his own adult stem cells in November of 2006 and seems to be doing quite well. Good on you Hal. Here it is-
I wanted to send you this forward in order to give you some idea as to how I am getting along since I had the stem cell procedure. Just look at the forward---that is me dancing---so not only did the procedure give me new life, it even made me look younger.
Actually, I am doing just great. I am able to now do many things I could not do before. Perehaps I will go out to a bar, try to flirt with a cutie or pick a bar fight. It has been a long time since I have done either.
I haven't taken more than a dozen nitro in the past six months. Prior to the procedure I couldn't get accross the room without poping one of those little white pills.
We spent six weeks this past winter in Palm Springs and more recently we spent two months in Hawaii. Speaking of Hawaii, we were saddened when Don Ho passed away. Anyway, I managed to get a good tan so I took it to Waikiki Beach, put on my best macho strut, looked at all those) beauties sunning themselves (not one of them had on enough to flag down a hand-car.) Anyway, I walked right up to the best looking one I could find and I said to her, "where in the hell have you been all my life honey"", She looked back up at me and said, "I wasn't even born for the first sixty years of it". WOW--that sure hurt. So, I went to a nursing home the next day----but sadly I had the same results. I don't blame the stem cell procedure---I think my wife had something to do with my total failure.
I send my very best regards to you, your staff and the hospital staff. All in all my time in Bangkok was quite an experience and I am so pleased that I made the trip.
Much love and aloha
Hal Terrell
Well, it looks like Stem Cell Guy isn't the only comedian in the house today.
When Stem Cell Guy watched the movie 300 , Doug Rice came to mind. Like King Leonidas in 300, Doug Rice stood tall and fought the odds rather than accepting his fate of death. However, unlike King Leonidas, Doug is still alive and well today thanks to Vescell- Stem cell therapy for heart disease.
Doug was suffering from congestive heart failure, the doc had recommended a new mechanical heart for him as he wasn't eligible for a heart transplant because of his diabetes. Not having many options, Doug came looking to Theravitae for help and we are all the better for it. We have a new friend in Doug Rice and Doug seems to be doing great.
Doug had enough energy to put up a new website. Check it out here And don't forget if you suffer from coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy, or congestive heart failure....there are options out there.
Stem Cell Guy's favorite line from the movie -"When told that the Persian army was so massive its arrows would block out the sun, the King replied "Then we will fight in the shade."
Doug Rice- Spartan Warrior - fought in the shade and won!
Stem Cell Guy has yet another newspaper story for you. I hope all of Stem Cell Guy's fans aren't bored reading this stuff. Yawn, another Theravitae patient treated for heart disease with his own adult stem cells and then getting better.
Timothy Maura is the latest to "bore" us here at Theravitae and we are jubilant about it.
Tim Maura is improving after receiving his stem cell therapy for his coronary heart disease (Or is it coronary artery disease? Or is it ischemic heart disease?) Simpleton Stem Cell Guy would just prefer "blocked arteries" to avoid the confusion. Nevermind, let's stay focused this week on Tim Maura. Tim came to Bangkok, Thailand for Theravitae's Vescell stem cell therapy just over a year ago. And the results have been terrific. Before, Tim's heart problems were slowing him down so much he had to stop working. These days, due to a huge reduction in Tim's angina symptoms, Tim is working again and that is music to Theravitae's ears.
Tim Maura had read the predictions that human stem cells could someday cure countless illnesses. "Someday" was too far away. He was disabled by heart trouble. Failed vessels blocked blood from reaching part of his heart. Surgery couldn't fix it. Chronic chest pain forced him to quit work in 2005. A year ago, Maura and his wife, Robin, cobbled together $30,000 and flew to Thailand, where doctors injected stem cells near his heart to try to sprout new blood vessels. Read the whole thing!
